Applying Stuart Hall’s theory to CNN’s investigation on the Lekki tollgate shooting Today, the media don’t just tell us what is happening, they also shape our perception that is, how we view things that happen. This is the reason CNN’s investigation of the Lekki Tollgate shooting caused so many reactions across the world. Some see the report as a clear proof of government brutality, while others view it as biased or incomplete. The CNN’s video encoded messaged was aimed at unraveling what really happened at Lekki toll gate and seek justice for those affected. Peter Obi’s Campaign Poster: A Simple Critique Using Formal Analysis

Peter Obi’s Campaign Poster: A Simple Critique Using Formal Analysis Minimalistic but powerful On a normal day, we look at posters, fliers and other print adverts as just ways of sharing information but it is usually more than that. These things communicate different messages and if we look beyond the obvious, we would notice hidden messages and little encoded messages to uncover. The poster’s simple but powerful design shows Peter Obi as a leader who stands for hope, peace, fairness, and development. In this analysi...

Using Marxist theory to Critically assess the Class structures portrayed in Chief Daddy The film Chief Daddy shows wealth as something that gives people power and respect even when they don’t deserve it. From the start, we see that Chief Beecroft is multibillionaire with big houses, fleet of cars, and plenty lands making his wealth seem desirable to all. His family and workers never seem to question the source of the money, they all just want to enjoy their share of it. The workers all mind their business quietly showing how the film is all about the rich and their complicated lifestyles. The film shows us the family members fighting over his property after his death. His wives, children, and secret lovers all want a share of the wealth. In a Marxist view, this shows how the upper class focuses on keeping wealth in the family rather than sharing it with the workers who helped build it. For example, when the lawyer starts to read the will, you can see how anxious they all are. Nob...
